SAN DIEGO, California - Empower Battery Technology joined Ohio State University at the 2026 ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit to showcase Glass Anode technology and connect with investors, scientists, companies, and advanced energy leaders working to accelerate U.S. energy innovation.

The Summit, held April 7-9 in San Diego, brought together a national community of energy entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, and industry partners focused on emerging technologies that can strengthen American-made energy systems. Empower participated alongside Ohio State University and the OSU Battery Cell R&D Center, highlighting work connected to the joint ARPA-E project, “Extreme Fast Charging Batteries with Extended Cycle Life for EVs.”

At the technology showcase, Empower and Ohio State discussed how Glass Anode technology is being developed to address two persistent battery challenges at the anode level: slow charging and limited cold-temperature performance. Empower’s proprietary glass-based anode material is designed for fast lithium transport, structural stability, and compatibility with standard lithium-ion battery manufacturing processes.

The event also gave Empower an opportunity to present directly to investors. Nicholas Bashian, Ph.D., CTO of Empower Battery Technology, pitched the company’s commercialization strategy and discussed how the Glass Anode platform can support ultra-fast charging, robust low-temperature performance, and domestic battery material production.

“The Summit was a valuable opportunity to show how far the Glass Anode has progressed, not just as a promising material, but as a technology platform moving toward scale-up, prototype validation, and customer engagement,” said Nicholas Bashian, CTO of Empower Battery Technology. “It was also encouraging to see the broader national focus on strengthening U.S. capabilities in advanced energy technology.”

Throughout the conference, the Empower and Ohio State team met with scientists, companies across the battery industry, potential partners, and investors interested in fast charging, next-generation anodes, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence-enabled energy innovation. The conversations reflected growing interest in battery technologies that can improve performance while also supporting more secure and resilient domestic supply chains.

For Empower, the Summit reinforced the importance of pairing strong materials science with a practical commercialization pathway. The company is focused on scaling Glass Anode production, building manufacturing-relevant pouch cell prototypes, and developing stronger customer validation across electric mobility, defense, and other demanding battery markets.

The company’s next phase of work will continue developing the Glass Anode to produce customer-ready demonstration units, supported by its collaboration with Ohio State and its broader manufacturing and commercialization ecosystem.
